Patrick Patterson

Patrick Patterson was born in Guyana and educated in Guyana and the United Kingdom. He was called to the Bar of England and Wales in 1982. He obtained his Masters degree from the University of London specializing in Company Law, Revenue Law, Employment Law and International Trade.

He practised in the United Kingdom until 1990 when he returned to the Caribbean to take up the appointment as Director of Public Prosecutions in the Commonwealth of Dominica. In 1992 Patrick Patterson took an appointment as Principal Crown Counsel for the Government of Anguilla during which time he acted as Attorney General in Anguilla on two occasions during 1993 and 1994.

In 1995 he moved to St. Kitts & Nevis where he became Solicitor General with responsibility for the conduct of civil litigation on behalf of the Government. He subsequently returned to private practice, which he carried on in St. Kitts & Nevis until the formation of CAA in 1997. In 2004 he was contracted by the Government of the Cayman Islands as a Legal Consultant.

Patrick Patterson has appeared before superior courts in a number of territories in the region including the Court of Appeal of the Eastern Caribbean and the United Kingdom as well as Her Majesty’s Privy Council.

He is currently the President of the Organisation of Commonwealth Caribbean Bar Association (OCCBA).
